CLAIRE DRINKWATER
I have been a printmaker for over 20 years.
While living and working in London, I studied printmaking first at The City Lit and then at Morley College. Formerly a member of the Printmaker's Council, I showed work with them all over the country. Later, I joined forces with fellow Printmakers to exhibit at the Morley Gallery.
Since moving to Oxford, I have become a member of Oxford Printmakers Cooperative and the Oxford Art Society, exhibiting with them at local venues.
I enjoy experimenting with a variety of print processes, specialising in etching, but also using collagraph and linocut or a combination of different methods.
I draw my inspiration mostly from the natural world, often developing a series of prints around a theme such as trees or water. Interpretation varies from the literal to the more abstract. In 2019 I took part in the First Impressions Project, a collaboration from OPC and the University of Oxford Museum of Natural History.
In addition to printmaking I enjoy painting and ceramics.
